Seyaj Organization launched the #EducationToProtectYemen campaign this morning, Saturday, November 21, 2015, on the occasion of International Child Rights Day.

According to the head of the organization, Ahmed Al-Qorashi, the campaign’s goal is to empower every child with their right to basic education in Yemen. It also aims to protect education and to increase interest in educating Yemeni children at the national, regional, and international levels.

Over 3 million children are at risk of educational deprivation, and Seyaj warns of the disastrous economic and security consequences of displacement, poverty, the harsh conditions faced by the majority of teachers, and the severe shortage of necessities for students.

Al-Qorashi explained that the inauguration of the first phase of the project will be implemented in the capital, Sana’a, under the auspices of the Capital Municipality, with the participation of the Education Office, seven youth initiatives, and more than 38 schools. The campaign will extend to several governorates affected by the war, including Taiz, Aden, Hajjah, Hodeidah, Ibb, Amran, Abyan, and Marib.

The head of Seyaj called on cultural, artistic, media, and educational elites and academics, to interact with the campaign through the hashtag #EducationToProtectYemen.
