Seyaj condemns the killing of a child by a Houthi sniper and the serious injury of his brother in the city of Taiz this morning, Monday.
Eyewitnesses and security and human rights sources confirmed to Seyaj that 10-year-old Saber Qaid al-Smadi was shot by a bullet in the head, killing him instantly. Meanwhile, his eight-year-old brother Muhammad was seriously injured and is still receiving treatment in a hospital in the city.
Seyaj denounces this heinous crime, which is an extension of a long series of deadly attacks that have targeted hundreds of civilians, mostly women and children, in the city of Taiz for over five years.
The organization demands that the incident be investigated, that a lawsuit be brought against those responsible, that the victims be given compensation, and that offenders not be allowed to go free.
