Child Yemeni facing The execution

Seyaj appeals to both the President of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Public Prosecutor of the Republic to urgently address the death sentence of a 15-year-old child.

The organization said that on November 27, 2022, the Zinjibar Court of First Instance ruled the death penalty for 15-year-old Hani Muhammad Al-Ka’madi, who was born in January 2008.

In two letters addressed to the Chief Justice and the Public Prosecutor, Seyaj stated that the convict is still a minor, and sentencing him to death explicitly violates national laws and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Lawyer and human rights activist Hussein al-Hindi confirmed that a team of lawyers and human rights activists will act as a defense body before the judicial authorities until this ruling is reversed by the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. He stressed that as a minor, the victim must be treated in line with the law throughout custody, investigation, and trial.
