The “Seyaj for Child Protection” organization received a report concerning the rape of an orphaned girl, Arwa Gh. M., estimated to be 13 years old. She was abducted by three individuals who held her captive in a room and committed their crime there for three consecutive days (May 21-23).

The Seyaj organization received a report concerning the rape of an orphaned girl, Arwa Gh. M. Siyaj volunteers in Ibb Governorate reported that the victim was lured and raped after being tricked into leaving the Habish district and being taken to the Hazm al-Udayn district of Ibb Governorate.

One of the three suspects was arrested in the Hazm al-Udayn district, where the crime occurred, while the other two remain at large.

As an attempt to cover up the crime, a local social figure arranged a marriage for the victim, making her the wife of one of the suspects.

According to Siyaj, the victim is facing death threats and is being framed for the crime, with the intention of being tried as an adult adulterer rather than as a child victim.

Siyaj warns against these and other attempts to downplay the case. It calls on the Minister of Interior, the Attorney General, and the Governor of Ibb Governorate to expedite the arrest of the two suspects who are still at large and to bring all those responsible to justice.

Siyaj also demands that the victim’s safety be ensured, that she be placed in a safe shelter, and that she receive psychological support and rehabilitation.

* “Siyaj is keeping the names of the accused and the victim.”
