The Seyaj Organization for Child Protection condemns the killing, siege, starvation, and arbitrary arrests of civilians in Al-Dhale’ Governorate.
The Seyaj Organization strongly condemns the use of lethal force against civilians and expresses its full solidarity with the families of the martyrs and the wounded, especially children and women. The organization also condemns all those seeking to harm supreme national interests, foremost among them Yemeni unity and the security and safety of innocent citizens.
The Siyaj Organization calls on the leadership of the armed forces and security services to avoid targeting populated areas. It also calls on elements affiliated with the so-called Southern Movement to immediately withdraw from civilian areas and warns them of the grave consequences of using civilians as human shields or engaging in activities that endanger the lives, security, and safety of civilians, especially women and children.
While the Siyaj Organization calls on the Yemeni government to uphold its legal responsibilities in achieving security and stability and ensuring the protection of citizens, it reiterates the necessity of pursuing legal avenues to hold those who violate the constitution and the law accountable.
The Siyaj Organization urges the government to launch an immediate investigation into the aforementioned crime, bring those involved to justice, and provide fair compensation to the families of the martyrs, the wounded, and all those affected.
According to Siyaj Organization sources in Al-Dhale’ Governorate and reports in local and international media, five people were killed and ten others wounded, including children and women, and more than thirty homes were destroyed in the military shelling that targeted residential areas in the southern outskirts of the city on Monday, June 7, 2010.
