The judicial authorities have implemented severe penalties against a person convicted of kidnapping, raping, and killing a twelve-year-old girl in Hajjah Governorate, northwestern Yemen.
On August 26, 2018, the judiciary executed the death penalty against those convicted and mandated the payment of one million Yemeni riyals (about $200) as financial compensation to the family of the victim.
Seyaj has undertaken to advocate for the victim, provide legal aid to her family, and follow up with the security and judicial authorities to prevent the perpetrator from escaping accountability.
Seyaj calls on judicial authorities in all Yemeni governorates to urgently and publicly implement severe legal penalties against perpetrators of rape, murder, or kidnapping of children.
