Nada Anam: The monitoring center of the Seyaj Organization revealed that 124 children were kidnapped in Yemen during 2013. The head of the organization, Ahmed Al-Qurashi, explained that the report included cases that were verified and documented, indicating that the majority of the cases fit the description of being victims of human trafficking. The report, published by the organization at its headquarters in Sana’a this morning, April 15, confirmed that the overall weakness in child protection, the impunity enjoyed by many perpetrators, and the decline of social values in protecting vulnerable groups are fundamental reasons for the increase in child abductions. This report, issued by the Monitoring and Protection Center of the Siyaj Organization, is one of the qualitative reports that Siyaj seeks to continue producing in order to provide a database and information on violence against children. Its importance lies in the fact that it represents a significant breakthrough in the culture of silence and cover-up that prevails in society regarding such issues related to dignity and honor.
