An explosive device, a remnant of the Sa’dah war, killed five people, including three students, and injured three others at the Yarmouk School in the Al-Mazraq camp for displaced persons. The Siyaj organization called on the government to expedite the removal of mines and other remnants of war.

Siyaj demanded urgent action to address the devastating effects of war and its aftermath on children. According to Siyaj’s field sources, two of the children killed could not be identified due to the severe injuries they sustained.

Local sources confirmed to Siyaj that the children were students at the Yarmouk School in the Al-Mazraq area and happened to be near the site of the explosion during recess.

The relevant authorities in the Haradh district security directorate are currently investigating the incident. Initial information indicates that someone was attempting to sell a quantity of scrap metal and copper, which included an unexploded device. While weighing the metal, it detonated, killing the six students, all residents of the camp, along with two civilians and the owner of the scrap metal shop, who was also killed.
