The Convention on the Rights of the Child stipulates four fundamental principles for every child:
Non-discrimination: All children shall enjoy their fundamental and superior rights without discrimination based on the child’s race, sex, national origin, religion, disability, colour, ethnicity, or other characteristics. The best interests of the child: This shall be the primary consideration in all actions concerning the child. The right to life: The obligation of States The parties shall ensure, to the fullest extent possible, the survival and development of the child. Right to freedom of expression: Every child has the right to express his or her views freely on all matters affecting him or her, and his or her views shall be given due weight.
