The Siyaj Organization for Childhood calls upon the Minister of Interior, the Attorney General, and the Governor of Hajjah to take immediate legal action in the case of the 14-year-old boy, Abubakr Muhammad Hadi Assaf, who was dragged to death. According to the Siyaj Monitoring and Advocacy Center, the boy’s father tied him to the back of a car and dragged him for approximately 1.5 kilometers until he died because he had been absent from school. Witnesses reported that the father did not respond to attempts to save the child and continued dragging him until he died. Siyaj commends the positive role of the local community and the security forces in Al-Shahal district in arresting the accused father. Siyaj urges the judicial authorities to deal firmly with crimes committed by fathers, given that many escape punishment or receive lenient sentences, which contributes to the increase in such crimes.
