The Education Office in the capital, Sana’a, suspended classes on Saturday in areas of armed conflict in the Shu’ub and Hasbah districts. NewsYemen quoted the office director, Mohammed al-Fadhli, as saying that the office decided to halt the educational process if clashes continued in the areas of friction, fearing for the safety of students. Al-Fadhli reported the closure of three schools in the capital—al-Rimah, al-Mithaq, and Faqeed al-Ummah—due to damage. He added that 34 schools had been turned into military barracks by the warring parties, but that educational activities were continuing normally there. He also revealed that a child at the Katiba School was injured by a stray bullet, and that three shells landed near the al-Ahqaf School, but no injuries were reported.
