The father of 12-year-old Asmaa, identified as (A.M.M.), pledged not to proceed with his daughter’s marriage until she reaches the legal age. This pledge came about as a result of the efforts of the Siyaj Organization and the cooperation of the security forces in the Wasab As-Safil district of Al-Hudaydah Governorate. This was achieved through a written commitment submitted by both Ali Al-Ghala, Asmaa’s father, and the man to whom the marriage contract was signed (Z.A.A.), to the Wasab As-Safil security director. They committed to not completing the marriage procedures for six years, until the girl reaches the age of eighteen, and also pledged not to prevent her from continuing her education. Wasab police chief, Mohammed Musad Al-Mokli, stated that Asmaa’s father and the man to whom she was betrothed were indeed convinced not to finalize the marriage procedures until Asmaa reaches the legal age. He emphasized that if they violate this commitment, they will be subject to legal action.
