Saudi police in the Jazan region announced last night that they had located the body of 14-year-old Yemeni boy Yahya al-Nashri, who was kidnapped by an Ethiopian man more than a month ago. This followed the arrest of the perpetrator last Sunday in the village of al-Husseini, near Sabya in the al-Madina governorate. The Saudi newspaper Al-Madina quoted Captain Abdullah bin Mu’ayyad al-Qarni, the media spokesperson for the Jazan police, as saying that al-Nashri’s decomposed body was found in one of the valleys of al-Fatihah, 56 kilometers north of Jazan city. This discovery came after police interrogated the perpetrator, who confessed to the location of the body. Al-Qarni added that forensic evidence is still being collected and the investigation is ongoing to determine the full details of the case. The Yemeni child had been kidnapped by unknown individuals in the Al-Darb governorate. He disappeared in a valley near the city of Al-Darb, and his father accused people of African nationality of kidnapping him. They demanded a ransom of 80,000 Saudi riyals from his family in exchange for his safe return.
