Security and human rights sources confirmed to the Siyaj Organization that a sniper belonging to the Houthi Ansar Allah group targeted an eight-year-old girl this evening, Monday, August 17, inflicting a serious head injury.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the girl, Ruwaida Saleh bin Saleh al-Qafri, was targeted from the Central Security Camp in the Kalaba neighborhood, which is controlled by the Houthi group, north of Taiz city, while she was fetching water near her home in front of the Saba Hotel.
Medical sources at al-Rawda Hospital, where the victim was taken, reported that she is in critical condition and is receiving intensive care.
The Siyaj Organization for Childhood condemns this heinous crime, as it does all other crimes committed against the children of Yemen. It calls upon the Houthi group and all other parties to the conflict to refrain from targeting children and civilians in general.
Siyaj affirms that these war crimes do not have a statute of limitations and that their perpetrators will be held accountable.
