The Taiz Court in Taiz Governorate sentenced (M.S.) today to five years in prison, to be served immediately, and ordered him to pay a fine of one million riyals (approximately $4,000 USD) plus 200,000 riyals in court fees. The court also sentenced the second defendant, who aided the perpetrator, to one year in prison and a fine of 200,000 riyals. The organization’s representative in Taiz Governorate, lawyer Ali Al-Sarari, who provided legal assistance to the victim, confirmed that the family of the 13-year-old boy received the verdict with great joy, given the difficulty of proving and handling such cases in a way that achieves justice for the victims and their families.
The Siyaj Organization thanks both the presiding judge, Mujeeb Al-Sab’a, and the prosecutor, Abdulrahman Qasim, for their role in achieving justice for the child and his family. The court noted that the time taken to hear the case was exceptionally short compared to the usual timeframe for such cases, where delays have significant and serious consequences for victims, most notably facilitating impunity.
