
Since its establishment, Seyaj has been working to monitor and document violations and crimes affecting children’s rights in armed conflicts. Seyaj has developed its policies and mechanisms to comply with United Nations treaties and standards, most notably the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its Optional Protocols. UN Security Council Resolution 1612 of 2005 identified the following violations: Killing and maiming. Recruiting and using children in armed conflict. Sexual violence in all its forms. Abduction. Attacking or using schools and hospitals for any military purposes. Denying humanitarian access.
