In a press statement, Seyaj Organization for Childhood Protection said that the past three years had shown an unprecedented rise in crime against children in Yemen and that most perpetrators continue to escape accountability because of the weakness of child justice systems.
The organization said that many victims, especially survivors of sexual violence, do not receive proper legal support or advocacy capable of protecting their dignity and securing justice. Seyaj’s Monitoring and Protection Center therefore mobilized all of its male and female volunteers to support victims of killings and sexual violence, including rape, sexual exploitation, harassment, and child marriage, during the 2016-2018 period.
Seyaj urged the public to report such crimes through its online reporting platform and emphasized that collective action could make a significant positive difference in reducing violence against children despite the severe challenges.
