Seyaj Organization for Childhood Protection expressed deep concern over the growing crimes of child abduction and rape in Yemen, warning that weak victim-protection and advocacy mechanisms allow many perpetrators to evade punishment.
While thanking the security administration in Ibb governorate for quickly arresting the suspect in the rape and killing of a nine-year-old girl, Seyaj called for continued efforts to secure justice and ensure the accused does not escape accountability by presenting all necessary evidence before the courts.
The organization urged the Public Prosecution and judicial authorities in the governorate to guarantee a fair and swift trial that delivers justice for the victim, deters the perpetrator, and discourages similar crimes. Seyaj also affirmed its readiness to provide one or more lawyers to support the victim’s family in accordance with the law.
