Most criminals who abuse children escape punishment for several reasons that society must not allow.
These include the family’s failure to report the crime out of fear of scandal, failure to preserve evidence in a timely and proper way, abandonment of child victims by the surrounding community, weak investigative performance in collecting evidence, and intimidation or inducement aimed at forcing families to withdraw their complaints.
Standing with the child victim helps protect many other children from falling prey to the same perpetrators.
