Childhood refers to all stages of human life from birth until the age of eighteen.
Under Yemeni law, the Child Rights Law No. 45 of 2002 defines a child as every human being who has not exceeded eighteen years of age unless they reach legal majority earlier. Under the international convention, a child is every human being below the age of eighteen.
A juvenile is a child who has reached the age of seven but has not yet attained legal majority. During this stage, the child has diminished criminal responsibility and is not treated under adult law.
