Seyaj thanked the police in Taiz governorate for their efforts to protect children and confront crimes that violate their rights.

The organization said it seeks to strengthen cooperation with security and judicial authorities in order to reduce the alarming increase in sexual violence in the context of war and displacement in Yemen. It also praised the police media office for withholding the names of the victim and suspect, describing this as a sign of rights-based maturity and an important step in protecting the dignity of all parties from stigma and exposure.

According to a statement by Taiz police, the suspect in the rape of a child with a disability was arrested after sustained investigation and pursuit, and the authorities continued legal procedures to transfer the case to the prosecution.
