Seyaj Organization for Childhood Protection denied any connection to a statement circulated by some media outlets at the end of January 2019 under the title that more than one hundred civil society organizations condemned the Haradh massacre.
The organization rejected the use of its name in the statement without its knowledge and reserved its right to take legal action against the party that issued it. While reaffirming its strong condemnation of all crimes and violations against children by all parties to the armed conflict in Yemen, Seyaj said it could not judge the responsibility or innocence of any party in the massacre because it had not investigated the case independently under its own monitoring and documentation standards.
Seyaj warned against using Yemeni rights organizations as instruments of war to target one side or another for financial or political gain, stressing that such biased and unprofessional practices seriously harm victims’ rights and the broader human-rights environment.
