Seyaj agreed with the commander of the First Armored Division and the Northwestern Military Region to develop and implement a joint timeline for discharging and rehabilitating recruits suspected of being under eighteen and reintegrating them into civilian life.
The move followed a decision to discharge one hundred child soldiers as a first batch, in response to Seyaj’s campaign against child recruitment. Military judicial officials told Seyaj that the division had begun releasing child recruits and was conducting medical examinations for those suspected of being underage.
Seyaj welcomed the cooperation and renewed its call for the wider military and security establishment in Yemen to adopt similar practical measures to discharge child recruits, monitor compliance, and implement rehabilitation and reintegration programs consistent with the Paris Principles and international standards.
