In Taiz, the director of Al-Thawra General Hospital refused to appear before the Public Funds Prosecution over the case involving the amputation of baby Abdulqaher Sultan’s penis during a botched circumcision, despite being summoned twice.

Justice Foundation for Advocacy, Consultations, and Training considered this refusal a serious act of arrogance toward the role of the prosecution and asked: if the hospital director claims he is not responsible and that the hospital did not commit this crime, why is he evading the prosecution?

The child remains in poor condition. Lawyer Osama Abdulilah Salam Al-Asbahi, head of the Justice Foundation, said that the hospital director bears responsibility for the deterioration of the child’s condition and that this medical error is a crime punishable by law, with the hospital itself being liable. He criticized both the director’s refusal to attend and the refusal of the medical staff member responsible for the mistake to appear.

Meanwhile, the child’s father again appealed to officials and organizations to stand by him in the case.
