Seyaj Organization for Childhood Protection received a report about the rape of a thirteen-year-old orphaned girl after she was abducted through deception by three men, held in a room, and repeatedly assaulted over three consecutive days.
Seyaj volunteers in Ibb said the girl was lured and taken from Hubaysh district to Hazm Al Udayn district, where the crime occurred. One of the three suspects was arrested, while the other two remained at large.
The organization also warned of an attempt to cover up the crime by arranging a religious marriage contract between the child victim and one of the suspects through a local social figure. Seyaj said the girl had been threatened with death and with being falsely portrayed as an adult offender rather than a child victim.
Seyaj called on the Minister of Interior, the Attorney General, and the governor of Ibb to ensure the immediate arrest of the remaining suspects, provide protection for the victim, transfer her to a safe shelter, and provide psychological support and rehabilitation.
