Yemen’s Minister of Human Rights, Huriya Mashhour, praised Seyaj as a national non-governmental organization specialized in monitoring and documenting crimes and violations against children and in providing protection, advocacy, psychosocial support, and economic rehabilitation for victims.
Speaking at an event organized by Seyaj to honor a group of child-rights defenders from among its volunteers across the governorates, the minister said child protection had been strongly present in the minds of Seyaj’s field teams and that they had succeeded in bringing child issues forcefully into public awareness.
UNICEF’s protection section also praised Seyaj’s role in promoting volunteerism for child protection and advocacy. Seyaj President Ahmed Al-Qurashi said the organization had opened difficult files involving grave crimes and violations that had long gone unaddressed, including child recruitment, organ trafficking, and systematic monitoring and advocacy for child victims of violence.
The event highlighted the courage of Seyaj’s volunteers in working under dangerous conditions and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to producing real and measurable change for children’s rights through cooperation with government and national and international organizations.
