Judicial authorities carried out severe legal penalties against a man convicted of abducting, raping, and killing a twelve-year-old girl in Hajjah governorate in northwestern Yemen.
The sentence included execution, which was carried out on 26 August 2018, as well as one million Yemeni rials in financial compensation to the victim’s family. Seyaj had advocated for the victim, provided legal support to her relatives, and followed up with security and judicial authorities to prevent impunity.
The organization called on judicial and security authorities in all governorates to act firmly and publicly so that the strongest possible legal penalties are imposed on those who abduct, rape, or kill children.
