An eight-year-old girl was shot in the head in Taiz city on Monday, 17 August.

Security sources and eyewitnesses told Seyaj that a sniper fired from an area controlled by Ansar Allah Houthis and struck the girl, Rowaida Saleh bin Saleh Al-Qafri, while she was fetching water near her home. Medical sources at Al-Rawda Hospital said she was in critical condition and receiving intensive care.

Seyaj condemned the crime and called on the Houthi group and all other parties to the conflict to avoid targeting children and civilians. The organization stressed that such war crimes do not expire with time and that their perpetrators remain legally responsible.
