This report documents Seyaj’s 2010 school support project, ‘My School Bag,’ implemented under the Seyaj program to enable children to enjoy their right to education, with support from Act Now Thailand.
The project targeted rural areas in Al Zahrah and Al Luhayyah districts of Al Hudaydah governorate, where poverty, weak school infrastructure, and the inability of families to afford school supplies were major barriers to basic education. It aimed to support children, especially girls and children in poor and remote communities, while also improving the educational environment and generating better information about the obstacles to schooling.
As part of the project, Seyaj distributed complete school bags and learning materials to around 1,000 boys and girls, doubling the original target. The organization also provided recreational and educational facilities to 20 rural schools in order to create a more child-friendly learning environment and encourage school attendance.
The report highlights a strong increase in enrollment in the targeted schools and presents the project as a successful intervention that improved access to education and strengthened community awareness of its importance.
