Seyaj Organization for Childhood Protection ranked 12th among organizations specialized in the protection of children and women worldwide.
The ranking came through the global Pixel Project as recognition for Seyaj’s serious humanitarian solidarity and honest work in combating violence against women and children. Seyaj was also the only Arab organization included in the list, which featured 16 organizations and rights networks from around the world.
The organization noted that during the war it had contributed to combating child marriage through its ‘Himaya’ program, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which focused on strengthening local protection mechanisms, raising community awareness of the harms of early marriage, and providing legal support and advocacy for victims. Seyaj also pointed to its 2013 film ‘Painful Weddings,’ produced with support from MEPI.
Since its establishment in 2008, Seyaj said it has worked to protect children’s rights by confronting grave violations including sexual violence, child recruitment in armed conflict, child marriage, the execution of minors, child trafficking, and organ trade.
