Since its establishment, Seyaj has monitored and documented violations and crimes affecting children’s rights in armed conflict.
Its policies and mechanisms are aligned with United Nations standards, especially the Convention on the Rights of the Child, its optional protocols, and UN Security Council Resolution 1612 of 2005.
The six grave violations are: killing and maiming, recruitment and use of children in armed conflict, sexual violence in all its forms, abduction, attacks on schools and hospitals or their military use, and denial of humanitarian access.
