Seyaj Organization for Childhood Protection issued an urgent humanitarian appeal for civilians trapped or displaced in the Tihama coastal region, most of them women and children.

The organization said that families in and around Al Durayhimi district remained besieged in villages affected by fighting and by widespread contamination from anti-personnel mines. Other displaced families had sought shelter with poor host households that were themselves unable to provide enough food or water.

Seyaj urged all parties to facilitate a safe corridor for civilians and allow humanitarian agencies to deliver food, clean water, tents, and medicines without delay. It warned that the humanitarian situation in Al Durayhimi, Manzar, parts of Bayt Al Faqih, Al Husseiniyah, Al Tuhayta, and nearby areas had become extremely dangerous.

The organization also warned that mines and booby traps had been planted in homes and farms, making return a potentially deadly step for displaced families.
